Welcome to albascot.net. It seems to be obligatory on blog sites to do a brief ‘About me’ section, so I would hate to disappoint …
Born in 1981, I went to school and to university in Edinburgh, Scotland. I graduated with a degree in law in 2005 before moving to London to work in the charity and (since May 2008) social housing sectors. I met my South African partner at a Hogmanay party in 2003, although we’ve been living together only since our arrival in the Capital. Three years later, and we’re still enjoying London - especially the bars, restaurants, theatres, … - but it’s great to return to Edinburgh every few months to visit family and friends.
As for hobbies, I love live theatre, and pretty much every aspect of it - plays, musicals, opera, etc. I’ve ventured out to most of Edinburgh’s and London’s big venues, as the ‘Theatre Visits’ page will testify - and that’s just a list of the performances that I remember! I’ve still to make it to Broadway, but I will get there soon. I also enjoy exploring, people watching and spending summer weekends relaxing in London’s many parks. Physically, I was a member of a squash club and gym in Edinburgh - my commitment has slipped since moving to London, but I intend to address this soon (update: I joined a gym in Jan 2007 - but attendance has not been great)! Travelling is also a hobby, especially city breaks, but there never seems to be enough weekends in the year to get away - poor excuse, I know. After two years of part-time study, three years of work experience and numerous exams, I was ‘elected’ in July 2008 as an Associate of The Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators (which, as you will see from my occasional blogs, is more about corporate financial management than typing letters).
Finally, I have a Canon E20 camera. And that’s the main reason for this website - to provide a home on the internet for the literally thousands of photos that are taking over my laptop! I particularly enjoy animal photography, but hopefully the galleries will suit all tastes. I’ll also add the odd (very amateur) film, theatre and restaurant review, which will no doubt be joined by the occasional ‘aged before his time’ ramble. Apologies now for any unintended offence that I may cause!

Bryan.
