Well, as I predicted just after the polls closed, the Scottish Parliamentary elections are in chaos - some of the ballots have still to be collected, many of those that have been collected can not be counted by the new machines, and many of those that have been counted are being treated at spoiled!!! Predictions suggest that up to 100K ballots won’t be counted - that’s 100K people essentially disenfranchised as a result of a decision to use three separate electoral systems and untested counting machines. And I’ve not even mentioned the collapse of the postal voting system and the boat that almost sank in the Clyde!
So many people saw this coming. Just when the people of Scotland looked set to take more control over their own affairs, the electoral system alone demonstrates that we can’t even put crosses in boxes! How was this allowed to happen??
