The BBC reported recently on the ’scandalous’ increase in the use of unprotected sex in the gay porn industry. Clearly, the transmission of HIV is to be regretted and the production companies need to be more pro-active in addressing this issue; however, the models themselves have to take some responsibility for what they do. If they are prepared to participate in unprotected sex, they must accept the risks - the presence or otherwise of a video camera should make no difference. The situation is different, of course, if the production companies force the models to perform against their will or if they are under-age.
